WELCOME TO PONTE VEDRA HS TRACK & FIELD
Welcome to PVHS Track & Field…as we progress thru the upcoming 2025 Season, we are determined to help you become the best you can be, as an athlete, but more importantly, one who takes on the world with grit and persistence. We will do that thru Track & Field and all associated decisions that will guide your path towards greatness. We have learned that the path to achieve that is through Servant Leadership. Putting others first, from the coaches, to our Captains, being mentored and mentoring, providing experiences that help “Their” teammates become better humans, becoming a better athlete, building self esteem and gaining maturity thru tough decisions are added bonuses.
Track and Field Practices will officially start @ 3pm Monday, January 20th (Yes, I know it’s a Holiday, greatness doesn’t take days off). We will have three days of Tryouts with the 100m, 400m, and 1600m as well as all field events. We limit our team to 120 (+/- 5) to maximize individual coaching for all our athletes.
Practices will normally be from 4-6pm Monday thru Friday and Varsity Meets will be on either Fridays or Saturdays. JV meets will be on Wednesday afternoons.
Respectfully,
Zane Guile

MEET THE COACH
Coach Zane Guile has been in coaching for over 40 years and is a 33 year retired Naval Officer. He was three sport High School athlete, played College Football and was a Decathlete for Eastern Washington University’s Track and Field Team where he earned All Conference Honors. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University. This will be his 11th year as the Head Track and Field Coach for Ponte Vedra High School.
Coach believes in the philosophy of “Servant Leadership” that starts with himself and holds the same standard as he does for his athletes and fellow coaches. His Florida coaching career started as a Volunteer Coach for Ponte Vedra HS in 2011. After his 2012 deployment, he was hired by legendary HOF Coach “Paul Nowicki” to guide the Bartram Trail HS Field events athletes. Under Coach Nowicki’s mentorship, he went onto take over Head Coaching duties for the Boys & Girls Track and Field program @ Ponte Vedra HS in the summer of 2014.
The “Sharks” Boys & Girls teams had finished dead last in their District the year prior to Coach Guile’s arrival. The Boys finished 4th and Girls 5th that first year and the Girls team placed 3rd @ State (with All American, NCAA champion and Olympian Nicole Greene winning the Long, Triple, and High Jump) that same year. Both programs steadily climbed in the rankings until the “Pandemic”. Once cleared again to practice, Coach Guile used that opportunity to claim their first ever District Titles in 2021 with the Boys and Girls taking the District Championships by over 100 points each. They followed that up with two more District Titles in 2022 and a Girls Regional Title. The Boys team went onto claim 4th place Honors at the State Championships with an Individual State Championship in the Discus!
In 2023, Coach Guile led his team to a 3rd Boys and Girls District Title, 2nd Girls and 1st Boys Regional Title, and Ponte Vedra’s 1st ever Boys Track & Field State Championship that included three individual State Champions.
In 2024, the Sharks were again Girls District Champions and Boys Runner Up and in Regional competition, the Ladies won their 3rd straight Region Championship while the Boys finished 4th @ State.
Coach Guile has been named the 2015 and 2023 Jeff Holt PVHS “Coach of the Year as well as the 2022 Tri-County “Girls Track & Field Coach of the Year” and the 2023 Tri-County Boys Track Coach of the Year and the Florida Dairy Farmers 2023 Boys Track & Field Coach of the Year. He recently was awarded the Florida Hall of Fame 2023/24 Boys Track & Field Coach of Year.
Much more than winning, Coach truly enjoys mentoring the mental and physical breakthroughs of his Athletes, not only in their Track and Field endeavors, but more so their growth, maturing into young, responsible adults, serving others first and ready to take on the rigors of the World.
