GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS

FOR PARENTS

We recognize that as our children’s first and most influential teachers, we can promote their success and contribute to an excellent school if we make the following commitments:

  • We will establish high expectations for our students. We will not accept minimum effort or indifference to quality work.
  • We will know what is expected in each of our student’s classes and communicate with teachers when we have questions or concerns.
  • We will insist upon good attendance.
  • We will provide a quiet time and place in our home for study.
  • We will insist that our students accept responsibility for their learning and conduct.
  • We will model the importance of life-long learning.
  • (Dufour & Eaker 1998 p. 94)

FOR STUDENTS

The Students of this school have built a tradition of excellence. We can help contribute to that tradition and increase the likelihood of our personal success if we:

  • Accept responsibility for our education, decisions, and actions.
  • Act in a way that best represents our school, parents, community and self to promote a safe, healthy environment in which to learn.
  • Are active in the school community.
  • Maintain a balance between academics, cocurricular activities, and community projects, and continually give our best effort to each.
  • Support our fellow students and their activities.
  • Respect cultural diversity, individuality, and the choices and rights of others.
