We will hold our first day of tryouts on Monday, January 21st. (This is a school holiday and students are not required to attend, but it will be helpful.

EL2 Physical Form

Ponte Vedra captured the Region 1 championships on Thursday afternoon defeating  Bolles 4 to 3.  Ponte Vedra racked up three wins, including line 1 (Maureen McCormack), line 2(Claire Olson) and line 4 (Katya Kelly).  The Sharks fourth win came in dramtic fashion as the number 1 doubles team of Alyssa Hensley and Maureen McCormack defeated the Bolles team 7-5. 7-6 (7-2) .  The Sharks will advance to the state tournament May 2nd.

1^st Singles:  Maureen McCormack (Ponte Vedra)  defeated Elise Ballantyne (Bolles) 6-1, 6-4     2^nd Singles: Claire Olson (Ponte Vedra) defeated Lilly Edwards (Bolles)   6-0, 6-2           3^rd Singles: Julia Preuss (Bolles) defeated Alyssa Hensley (Ponte Vedra)  7-5, 6-3   4^th Singles: Katya Kelly (Ponte Vedra) defeated Isabella Diaz-.  Mira (Bolles) 6-2, 6-0       5^th Singles: Meagan Donovan (Bolles) defeated Ellie Stamatogiannakis    6-4,6-2    1^st Doubles: Maureen McCormack and Alyssa Hensley defeated Elise Ballantyne and Julia Preuss   7-5, 7-6 (7-2)     2^nd Doubles: Claire Olson and Katya Kelly lost to Lilly Edwards and Meagan Donovan 6-3, 6-4

In a suspenseful finals, that had the Sharks facing the Bulldogs at every line, Ponte Vedra girls edged The Bolles School 4-3 to take the district championship.  The final team totals were Ponte Vedra 18, Bolles17, Clay 5, Ridgeview 4, Menendez and Orange Park 2 and Bradford 1.  Claire Olson and Katya Kelly were both district champions at 2 and 4 singles respectively.  Olson and Kelly then teamed up to win the district title at 2 doubles.  Seniors Maureen McCormack and Alyssa Hensley displayed extraordinary mental toughness in a 1-6, 7-5 (10-7) win over the Bolles’ 1 Doubles team.

The district champions faced Raines in a regional semifinal match, winning 4-0.  The Sharks will resume play for the regional title and trip to the state finals in a match on Thursday April 26.

The Ponte Ve.dra girls regular tennis season ended with victories at Camden County and Clay High and a final record of 12-2.   Maureen McCormack at 1 Singles and 1 doubles with Alyssa Hensley remianed undefeated (12-0/9-0).    The team will host the FHSAA Class 2A district 4 tournament on April 17 and 18.

The Ponte Vedra girls tennis team defeated county rival Nease with a 6-1 score.  Maureen McCormack (Mo) and Claire Olson have been victorious against all county opponents. Mo remains unbeaten with an overall record of 10-0.  Alyssa Hensley, Katya Kelly and Ellie Stamatogiannakis all posted wins, along with the two doubles team of Emma Notari and Anna Handley.  The Sharks will host Ridgeview for senior night on Thursday, April 5th.

The Ponte Vedra girls tennis team lost a close match to The Episcopal School by a score of 4-3.  Mareen McCormack led the team with wins at 1 Singles and, with partner Alyssa Hensley, at 1 Doubles.  Mareen improves to 9-0 at both positions.  Ellie Stamatogiannakis rallied to score the third win for Ponte Vedra.  The Sharks will meet Nease in the Shark tank on April 3rd.

1S  Maureen McCormack defeated Danielle Corbin  6-0; 6-2 /2S Claire Olson lost to Taryn Peterson 6-3; 6-2 / 3S  Alyssa Hensley lost to Evie Murray 6-4; 6-3  / 4S  Katya Kelly lost to Bianca Cornthwaite 6-2; 6-3 / 5S  Ellie Stamatogiannakis defeated Ella Wells Freeman 6-2; 6-4 / 1D McCormack/Hensley defeated Corbin / Cornthwaite 8-4 / 2D Olson/Kelly lost to Peterson/Murray 8-2

The Sharks posted two wins, first defeating District 4 foe Bolles 6-1 and then Bishop Kenny 7-0.  Maureen McCormack remains undefeated at line one singles and also anchors the undefeated one doubles team with Alyssa Hensly.  The boys and girls teams will host Nease on the Shark Tank Courts in a rescheduled match on Monday, March 19th

The Sharks advanced their team record to 6-1 with a 7-0 win over Fernandina Beach.  Mareen McCormack and Claire Olson led the team with solid victories at 1 and 2 singles.  Claire did not lose a game.  Katya Kelly, Ellie Stamatogiannaksis and Mary Mesereau all posted decisive wins to complete the singles line up.  Emma Notari and Anna Handly showed great team work with a win at 2 doubles.  The Sharks host Bolles on Thursday, March 8th on the PVHS courts.
