Required Reading
• How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas Foster
• Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Assignment
• Annotate Huckleberry Finn, be sure to pay close attention to the role of settings, diction/syntax, symbols, and themes. Be prepared to write an AP style, open-ended essay upon the start of the course.
• Use Foster’s chapters to analyze your text. Be sure to pay special attention to Chapters 1, 5, 12, and 19 as these allude directly to Huckleberry Finn.

AP SEMINAR SUMMER READING and ASSIGNMENT
In AP Seminar you will develop and practice the skills in research, collaboration, and communication. You’ll investigate topics in a variety of subject areas, write research-based essays, as well as design and give presentations both individually and as part of a team. As required summer reading, you are to complete two assignments. Both assignments are due on the second day of class.
